Hip Hop Locos. Ugh.

Before we proceed to part two of our Dalek-making feature, here’s a Spectare review of a reprehensible film I had the displeasure of watching recently: Hip Hop Locos. You don’t have to take my word for it, as I’ve included several definitive clips of the movie in action, but it’s pretty terrible stuff. As noted towards the end of the review, however, the rest of the set may not be so bad. I rather enjoyed I Hate You, a strange little flick about an aging New York City comic whose obsession with being remembered and acknowledged for his work drives him to become a serial killer. The movie also features his actual comedy routines, which are so focused on murder that I can’t imagine anyone finding them genuinely funny… which kind of makes them unintentionally hilarious. (Heck, while I’m at it, check out this clip from the movie: 2:04 mins, 1.05 MB.) So don’t let my review of Hip Hop Locos deter you from purchasing Serial Psychos if you happen to come across it — considering that you get six films for the price of admission, it’s still entirely possible that the others will overwhelmingly redeem the set. I’ll keep you posted.

By the way — assuming that you’re brave enough to watch them — I’d be particularly interested in hearing what you think of the clips (and the general idea of including clips in Spectare reviews, for that matter), so do feel free to share here. 🙂

  • This movie sounds freaking awful! I’ll definately be sure to watch the clips next time I visit my Grandma (who has a nice DSL connection, as opposed to my stone-age dial-up). I have to say I’m all for clips in the spectare articles, it’s nice to get a real taste of what you’re talking about.

BTW I haven’t encountered the budget sets sadly (they sound great), but I’ve really been enjoying buying 99 cent DVDs, of classic films at dollar-stores and drug-stores. It’s REALLY great around halloween time when it includes old Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff movies. I also have one of the original black and white 1960s version of “Little Shop Of Horrors”, and it’s great!

Yo man, yo dog, I’m gonna bust a cap on yo ass, bro! Know wha I mean?

  • I’m at Grandma’s.

    I just saw the clips.

HOLY FLAMING SHIT ON A STICK!

    Those were horrible!

I have to say that clips 1 and 2 actually were starting to interest me, they looked awful but they kind of made the masochistic side of me (the side that likes it when I get a mild electric shock from a pretty girl, painful but fun) want to see it anyway.

Clips 3 and 4 changed that. Clip 3 especially has to be the most boring conversation ever put in a movie (and I’ve watched a few Lifetime originals) and they do indeed confirm the warnings you put throughout this article that this movie is indeed true patheticrap and not “good bad” at all. Far from a light zap from an attractive female, and more like being half electricuted by a big fat gay biker! (VERY painful and NOT fun at all.)

And, that’s just my thoughts on a few clips. You saw the whole damned thing! I can’t imagine your trauma and I hope you can find a Bad-Movie support group for this kinda thing.

PS. I still think clips are a great idea!

I’m shocked that you watched them at your grandmother’s house — I’d meant to warn you against doing so, as she might see them and have a cow or something! But yeah, the movie is really, really bad.

As far as these electric shocks from pretty girls go… you do know that you’re not supposed to make out with robots after a rainstorm, don’t you? 😉

  • She’s in her room watching a detective movie right now anyway. And, she pretty much ignores whatever I do on her computer assuming (most accurately) that it’s something ridiculous.

And, sometimes after a depressing rainstorm, robot girls get a little lonely….

  • agustinaldo says:

Yo dogs, ya didn’t get the damn movie, esse!

It be fo bad dogs from da hood, not fo liley white dudes, bro!

    Jizzle ma znizzle!

I purchased the SERIAL PSYCHOS DVD and it’s not bad. Hip Hop Locos is without a doubt the worst film on the set. But I loved I HATE YOU and BLOOD MASSACRE. THIRTEEN is also a good movie. I only payed $6.99 on Deep Discount and considering the price for six movies it was a great deal. Check it out.

  • Wes says:

Thanks for commenting, Sal! Still haven’t watched any of the others yet, but yeah, I Hate You is great.

By the way, if you’re a fan of budget compilations, you might want to check out the Hotter Than Hell set on DDD. Sore Losers is freaking fantastic. 🙂

  • Hotter Than Hell. I’ll look for it thanks.
