S.T.O.P. Vs. S.C.U.M. 3.75" Action Figures!

FINALLY, a full review on Scary-Crayon! I’ve generally been posting my toy-related writings and whatnot over at Articulated Discussion, but I just had to spotlight these crappy things here. I’m not saying I regret buying them… but I think I’d have saved my money if I had to do it again. Well, except maybe with regard to Lady Lead. I think I’m even going to get a crappy $1 motorcycle for her to ride.

Anyway, check out my stuff on Articulated Discussion (I was at the San Diego Comic-Con and Baltimore Comic-Con this year, so there’s coverage of those events), yadda yadda, and hopefully I’ll have more content here as well. I’ve actually got some things I’d like to give out as contest prizes, but first I need to come up with an idea for a contest! Perhaps my first contest should be one to see who can come up with the best contest idea. 😛

You could ask people to follow you via GFC or Twitter or like your page on facebook and use random.org to draw the lucky winner(s).

Haha. Great stuff. I have a feeling some more ‘dollar store’ merch is heading your way 😉

  • RADIX says:

I saw these at my local Dollar Tree. Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t buy them, then.

    • Wes says:

Maybe, maybe not! I took one apart and did some cutting on his legs to improve the range of the knee joint — it’s kinda nice to have cheap figures to experiment with like that. I might try something with the wrists in the future.

  • GSInc says:

I almost picked these up at my local Dollar Tree last week… except that the ENTIRE SUPPLY at the store (about 10 pegs jammed full) were completely unpainted. Not a drop of paint anywhere.
Reading this review makes me doubly glad that I left them behind; stinky toys tend to make me want to spew. 🙂

    • Wes says:

Completely unpainted?!? L-O-L. On the other hand, they probably looked better than the vast majority of the ones I saw on the pegs, so that might not be a bad thing.

  • i went to Deal$ today, the place i normally find the dollar stare fare you review here.. – unfortunately they only had these in $5 four-packs! – i was bummed.. – almost spent $1 on a Planet 51 figurine but couldn’t justify that purchase so I bailed..

    • Wes says:

4-packs, you say? Interesting! I was under the impression they were Dollar Tree exclusives, so to speak, but it’s kinda intriguing that they’ve appeared in other stores as well.

I’ve seen those Planet 51 figurines as well, and I’ve been similarly tempted. Haven’t bitten, but I may regret that one day… as I kinda regret not grabbing a Strawberry Shortcake figurine when I had the chance.

Funny, I saw these at my Dollar Tree and wondered whether you’d seen them. Love the contrived acronyms for STOP and SCUM.

I would have read this sooner, but my entire system had to be wiped & I lost all my bookmarks.

  • Mammoth says:

Lady Lead reminds me of Zania from Warlock 5, a comic that only I have heard of, it seems.
This makes me want to buy her a lot less.

  • Simone says:

Hey, I was ‘gonna do a review of these figures! 🙂
Anyway, mine are a lot more godawful looking. The paint jobs are terrible, and Skull Hawk is missing his weapon.

    • Wes says:

Wait, what?! How is Skull Hawk missing his weapon? They’re molded into their hands! You must’ve gotten the super-rare Skull Hawk variant. 😉
